Foysol Choudhury MBE is standing as an MP Candidate for Edinburgh South West at the general election on 8th June. He said, ‘I am particularly keen to enable rights and well-being of the South West Edinburgh residents. Therefore, a safe and fair society is vital. I will work to establish these rights for everyone. I’m determined to follow labour values and win the seat back taking upon legacy from my predecessors, Alistair Darling who had served the constituents many years’.
Foysol Choudhury moved with his family to Edinburgh over thirty five years ago. During the course of his education he had to take over the small business of his father, being the eldest amongst his siblings. Outside his attention to his family and work in the business, Foysol Choudhury is a very active member of the community and plays a leading role in several charities.
Foysol Choudhury has worked with the City of Edinburgh Council, other Councils of the Lothians and the Scottish Parliament to promote and protect the rights of anyone who needed his help. He was very active in the recent independencereferendum. Although Foysol Choudhury is aware of important political issues such as Brexit and the impact it may have in Scotland, he believes that local issues are of primary importance and has worked tirelessly to address these to the benefit of all members of the community.
He is also a resourceful fundraiser and has worked on several successful fundraising campaigns, raising funds for St Colomba’s Hospice, Leukaemia & Cancer appeals, Sick Kids appeal, British Heart Foundation, Cycling for Refugees and many others.In recognition of his services to the community, Foysol Choudhury was awarded an MBE in New Year’s Honours list of 2004.
